MozFest at RIMT Punjab

Hello All,

Finally MozFest at RIMT Punjab , on 9 ^th april 2014 Completed with the Great Success. I have a talk with faculty Mr.Sofat of RIMT to Host a event in their College. me (Mohit Kumar) ,Sajeev Soni and Rahul Bains  are very excited for this event. Sajeev me(mohit ) and rahul , We three people reached before one day evening. before a day before sajeev have attend the Mozilla India Community meeting at hydrabad and I have returned from Shimla one day before, after completing my college Work.

The Main agenda of this event is:

To catch More active contributors for Mozilla community

• Introduction to Open Source
• Examples of Open Sources and their benefits to Public
• How the Mozilla is best among all open source companies
• Mozilla Products SUMO (army of awsome)
• Introduction of Localization Project
• How to contribute in Localization ,in our Mozilla Punjab
• Web maker introduction
• Hands on session with WebMaker
• Introduction to FirefoxOS
• Hands on session with FirefoxOS App Development

We divided the session into two parts ,in morning session we Startup our First Session after meeting with  principal of RIMT Polytechnique College.

We start with Introduction to Open Source

In this Session We start with introduction to open Source. By Giving  a information to students and faculty about the meaning of open source by giving examples about various open source software.

Examples of Open Sources and their benefits to Public

Then we have explained various open sources Companies and their benefits and how the mozilla is best among these.

Mozilla Products SUMO (army of awsome)

In this Session Me (Mohit kumar),Sajeev Soni  and  Rahul Bains explained the Mozilla and its products by giving the idea of SUMO(Speailly Army of Awsome) with example of Sajeev Soni Contribution in Army of awesome.

Most Students are  interested in SUMO project, then We have given the details to students how they can contributed in SUMO project to handle the end user problems.

by giving the details of how the mozillians are contributing in the SUMO project.

Introduction of Localization Project and How to contribute in Localization ,in our Mozilla Punjab

In this Session, the next step is to show them how the mozillians are working in Localization project by showing them Mozilla PUNJAB and contributors.

Specially giving them examples and work under localization. Contributors like aman alam who are contributing in Localization project from last 10 years. they are working in our community. We have motivated students to  work under localization project.

In evening session

Then I have shown the  Mozilla OS to students.and giving the details of mobile (ZTE) that Mozilla has launched in different countries.

It was the  awesome session.

Then I have shown them a Demo session to convert Hello word web application  to a (manifest) mobile  application and these are worked and tested in marketplace.

we start with the Web Maker introduction and its Tools. I have delivered a hand on Session with Thimble and giving them a  idea how can we use thimble in Designing by giving them a practical demo.

Rahul bains has explained the X-ray Goggles with practical Session. Sajeev has given practical demo of Pop Corn Maker with live Video . students are keen  interested with this Session. 

It was Such a Memorable event for us.

Hello all,

Finally MozLounge at GNIT Mullana , kurukshetra university on 11^th march 2014 Completed with the Great Success. Sajeev Soni got a request from the Student (amit Walia)of the GNIT Mullana to Host a event in their College. me (Mohit Kumar) ,sajeev Soni and Rahul Bains  are very excited for this event. We have start making the preparation before a week   from Starting of the event.

This is   our first experience Outside the State for hosting the event.

The Main agenda of this event is:

First goal is to introduced first Mozilla Event in Haryana .

• Introduction to Open Source
• How to Contribute & get involved with mozilla
• Introduction to Mozilla
• Mozilla Products SUMO (army of awsome)
• Localization
• Web maker introduction
• Hands on session with WebMaker
• Introduction to FirefoxOS
• Hands on session with FirefoxOS App Development

I reached the Campus on 10^th March at 8:20 pm Via ambala from Ludiana. it is Approx. 150 km away from Ludiana. Specially Rahul Bains  travelled from hoshiarpur (280 km away from his home).

After the reaching the  GNIT, Mullana. we Startup our First Session after meeting with  Dean of Deptt, Head of the Department.

• Introduction to Open Source

In this Session We start with introduction to open Source. By Giving  a information to students and faculty  about various open source software. And explaining them why the Mozilla is one first postion .

•  How to Contribute & get involved with mozilla

The next agenda is to introduced the Mozilla and giving the student about information  ,why the Mozilla in first position  and how the student can contribute and how they will get involved with Mozilla. it takes 30 min for this  .Rahul Bains and Sajeev Soni  have given a idea to student about the giving the examples of top most Contributors.

•  Introduction to Mozilla and Mozilla Products

In this Session Me (Mohit kumar),Sajeev Soni  and  Rahul Bains explained the Mozilla and its products by giving the idea of SUMO(Speailly Army of Awsome) with example of Sajeev Soni Contribution in Army of awesome.

•  Localization

In this Session I have given the idea to student how they can contribute in localization by translating Mozilla into their native language.

I have given them  a example of AMAN ALAM  from Punjab who is contributing in this field from  the last 10 years. sajeev have given the Demo of ADD-ON’s .

Then we have a break of 15 min.

In the Second session, we start with the Web Maker introduction and its Tools. I have delivered a hand on Session with Thimble and giving them a  idea how can we use thimble in Designing by giving them a practical demo.

Rahul bains has explained the X-ray Goggles with practical Session.

Sajeev has given practical demo of Pop Corn Maker with live Video . students are keen  interested with this Session.

In the Third Session a student of GNIT  Amit has given a practical demo of how we can create the APPS and used it in Market place.

 

At the end of the  Session we have  a Group Photo Along with Students ,faculty .

It was the Awsome Experience for three of us.

Community Building at Punjab

Hello Friends,

Here I am to introduce about Community Building at Punjab in presence of moz reps Sujith and Komal Gandhi.

The event Community Building at Punjab, on  08-12-2013  was planned at Near to Shri Guru Granth Sahib World University  . I  Reached the   Venue at 5.00 p.m.(evening) on 7th dec after my Exam on Saturday to meet Sujith and komal .I was very exicted to meet both of them.My friend has dropped me at the venue which is 20 km from my exam Centre. then I Met with Sujith and Sajeev soni ,and discussed about the planning of community event .after discussing with sujith about the planning of Tomorrow . We(me and Sajeev Soni) returned to our friend house  for stay.

Then on Sunday we (Rahul ,Sajeev Soni and me)  have assembled the students who are crazy to work as volunteer in different fields.some oof them are from Nepal like Bipin karki,Ashim Kc etc .they were very exicted to meet Moz rep and we want to lean about differents fields and areas where we can work for the world best seure browser.

In First session:

Starting with introduction of each mozillian the event begins

Then event start with the introduction of Mozilla by Sujith. he told us the various communities  of Mozilla .like he told us Mozilla Asia,mozilla Europe and all in Details. He has given all the detail about the Hierarchy of Mozilla to Mozilla india and all…………..

We were very exicted for that time to know about the world largest public resource.student has cleared there queries .   

The question of my query which I have faced in last event got from sujith with very good answer.

That was :how the Mozilla is  getting   amount instead of Google .and how iit is different from other open source.

Me and students satisfy with that great answer from sujith.

Then we have a great Coffee break………………J

  In Second session:

In Second session Moz reps has told us the various fields starting from Web Maker. We have some knowledge about that  because me and sajjev have already organized the web maker event at DBU,Punjab in last month . But Sujiith has given the Demo of each and every tool starting with great X-Ray Goggle.

 After the web maker session , then  Kamal Gandhi has told us about the Army of Awesome by giving example of Sajeev soni.

She told us SUMO project.                                                          

Then we have great lunch.

Third Session.

(i)Market Place

In last session Moz reps have told us about   the Market place and Mozilla handset. and how to contribute in developing mobile applications for market place.

This is the most beneficial  for that Mozilla contributors who wants to work in developing sides. specially those which me and sajeev has selected from the last month .Amritpal is one of them.

(ii)WEBFWD:

 I have many queries with that. because I have flooded with queries of Webshell.and they have cleared all my doubt by giving the information about WebFwd. Sujith told us that how can we utilized this into new companies such as to store the database free (instead of paying large amout).  That is the one of the best part of webFwd which I get from sujith.

Then we have celebrated the birthday oof Mozilla by cutting the cake from our Moz Reps.and having fun over there.all of us very exicted.

We have planned to have established moziilla club in our college.
