MozLounge at GNIT Mullana

Hello all,

Finally MozLounge at GNIT Mullana , kurukshetra university on 11^th march 2014 Completed with the Great Success. Sajeev Soni got a request from the Student (amit Walia)of the GNIT Mullana to Host a event in their College. me (Mohit Kumar) ,sajeev Soni and Rahul Bains  are very excited for this event. We have start making the preparation before a week   from Starting of the event.

This is   our first experience Outside the State for hosting the event.

The Main agenda of this event is:

First goal is to introduced first Mozilla Event in Haryana .

• Introduction to Open Source
• How to Contribute & get involved with mozilla
• Introduction to Mozilla
• Mozilla Products SUMO (army of awsome)
• Localization
• Web maker introduction
• Hands on session with WebMaker
• Introduction to FirefoxOS
• Hands on session with FirefoxOS App Development

I reached the Campus on 10^th March at 8:20 pm Via ambala from Ludiana. it is Approx. 150 km away from Ludiana. Specially Rahul Bains  travelled from hoshiarpur (280 km away from his home).

After the reaching the  GNIT, Mullana. we Startup our First Session after meeting with  Dean of Deptt, Head of the Department.

• Introduction to Open Source

In this Session We start with introduction to open Source. By Giving  a information to students and faculty  about various open source software. And explaining them why the Mozilla is one first postion .

•  How to Contribute & get involved with mozilla

The next agenda is to introduced the Mozilla and giving the student about information  ,why the Mozilla in first position  and how the student can contribute and how they will get involved with Mozilla. it takes 30 min for this  .Rahul Bains and Sajeev Soni  have given a idea to student about the giving the examples of top most Contributors.

•  Introduction to Mozilla and Mozilla Products

In this Session Me (Mohit kumar),Sajeev Soni  and  Rahul Bains explained the Mozilla and its products by giving the idea of SUMO(Speailly Army of Awsome) with example of Sajeev Soni Contribution in Army of awesome.

Most Students are  interested in SUMO project, then Sajeev have given the details to students how they can contributed in SUMO project to handle the end user problems.

Then I have shown the  Mozilla OS to students.and giving the details of mobile (ZTE) that Mozilla has launched in different countries.

It was the  awesome session.

•  Localization

In this Session I have given the idea to student how they can contribute in localization by translating Mozilla into their native language.

I have given them  a example of AMAN ALAM  from Punjab who is contributing in this field from  the last 10 years. sajeev have given the Demo of ADD-ON’s .

Then we have a break of 15 min.

In the Second session, we start with the Web Maker introduction and its Tools. I have delivered a hand on Session with Thimble and giving them a  idea how can we use thimble in Designing by giving them a practical demo.

Rahul bains has explained the X-ray Goggles with practical Session.

Sajeev has given practical demo of Pop Corn Maker with live Video . students are keen  interested with this Session.

In the Third Session a student of GNIT  Amit has given a practical demo of how we can create the APPS and used it in Market place.

 

At the end of the  Session we have  a Group Photo Along with Students ,faculty .

It was the Awsome Experience for three of us.
